UNIMTECH Secures Research Grant to Enhance Financial Capabilities of SMEs in the Western Area
Kissy Dockyard, Freetown – 3 Sept 2025_ – The University of Management and Technology (UNIMTECH) is proud to announce that it has secured a research grant from the *International Growth Centre (IGC) UK & SL* for a research project titled *“Enhancing the Financial Capabilities of Women-Led SMEs in the Western Area Urban and Rural Districts of Sierra Leone.”*
This initiative, led by *Mallam O.* and co-led by *Dr Brima Sesay*, aims to research the empowerment of women entrepreneurs by strengthening their financial literacy, access to funding, and business sustainability. The project aligns with UNIMTECH’s commitment to fostering inclusive economic growth and gender equality in Sierra Leone.
The International Growth Centre (IGC) has formally approved the grant, recognizing its potential to drive meaningful change for women-led small and medium enterprises (SMEs). Contractual agreements, with coordination support from the IGC Sierra Leone Hub are being finalized.
