Sierra Bottling Group Now Owns SLBL

The Sierra Bottling Group (SBG), which is a subsidiary of African Bottling Group Limited, has   signed an Agreement as the new owners, taking over the Sierra Leone Brewery Ltd (SLBL). The Agreement was signed on Thursday 10th July 2025. Thereafter, it is captured that the necessary steps will be taken to implement the transition for full handingover.Top Management of SBG have assured the General Public that the strategic decision aligns with their goal to ensure the long-term sustainability of SLBL’s operations. 

However, through engagement, this Media House was made to understand that the Corporate Affairs department of SLBL, have assured that whilst the change is not expected to disrupt their operations or their economic contributions in Sierra Leone,  they are committed to following the transition process as stipulated by local legislation. They affirmed that they value the partnership that they have enjoyed with the Government of Sierra Leone over many decades.  Their focus remains on ensuring a smooth transition, and they will continue their strong partnerships with Government stakeholders and their dedication to the employees, adhering to all legal requirements.

Most importantly, it was posted on the Face book page of SLBL that whilst ownership will change, SLBL will continue to operate as a business; producing and supplying beverages to the Sierra Leonean market. The Announcement reiterated that Sierra Bottling Group (SBG) is a subsidiary of African Bottling Group Limited (ABG), a respected player in the beverages sector, with a credible track record of local investment and operational excellence. It was also made categorically clear that there will be no immediate changes to the brand portfolio or distribution arrangements as a result of this transition.

 HEINEKEN, has revealed its commitment to ensuring that all legal rights are respected and that transitions in employment noled, in accordance with the Laws of Sierra Leone. And that the new owners are committed to maintaining SLBL’s operations and workforce.
