Position: Legal Officer
Reports to: Managing Director/CEO
Professional Summary: A seasoned legal officer with at least thirteen (13) years of post-call experience in active and diverse legal practice before the Courts of Sierra Leone (10 years specialist expertise in Company & Corporate Law). With a solid track record of delivering professional, timely, and result-oriented legal services, the legal officer should be a trusted advisor to management and the institution both locally and internationally. Job Brief: The Legal Officer will be responsible for providing legal advice and support to the organization on a wide range of legal matters, including company and corporate law, contracts, compliance, intellectual property, and regulatory issues. Core Competence: Extensive knowledge of Company and Corporate Law, with a minimum of ten (10) years of practical advisory experience. Recognized for structuring, compliance, corporate governance, and dispute resolution strategies tailored to the needs of modern businesses. Skilled in civil and criminal litigation, with proven advocacy and representation before trial and appellate courts. Behavioral Skills/ Competencies

Minimum Qualifications and Requirements: • Bachelor’s degree in Law (LL. B Hon), Juris Doctor (JD), Master’s degree in Law, Business, or a related field is an advantage. • Admission to the bar in the relevant jurisdiction; license to practice law required. • Minimum of 13 years of experience practicing law, preferably in a corporate or commercial setting, with a minimum of 10 years in a senior legal advisory role within a financial institution or regulatory industry. • Strong knowledge of contract law, corporate law, and regulatory compliance, and risk management • Proven experience advising senior executives and boards
• Excellent legal research, writing, and analytical skills. Required Skills: • In-depth knowledge of relevant laws and regulations. • Analytical skills to assess legal risks and implications. • Excellent written and verbal communication skills. • Research abilities to gather relevant legal precedents and information. • Attention to detail and accuracy in legal documentation. • Negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
• Ability to provide legal advice and guidance to the organization. • Microsoft office skills (Words, Excel, Access etc.)
